ABOUT

Kirsten Cowan is a licensed and NCARB-registered architect. She is a member of the team at Partners for Architecture, a Stamford, CT-based firm whose work includes design, master planning, and full-services for a diverse array of project types. These include educational facilities, campuses, retail stores, religious facilities, and other commercial and institutional projects. Serving multiple roles for various projects, Kirsten's work for PFA includes design at every scale; assisting with project management; coordination with consultants; interior design; construction administration; and client-facing activities. 

 

Prior to that, she has worked as an Architectural Designer and Project Manager for Trillium Architects, an award-winning single-family residential firm known for balancing beautiful design with sustainable building methods. At Trillium, she took responsibility for client projects including planning, permitting, design, and drawings from schematic design through construction documents. Her work included serving as the clients's single point of contact, meeting clients and contractors, delivering successful Zoning Appeal and Conservation presentations, creating complete CD sets, and more.

 

Kirsten graduated from City College of New York's Masters of Architecture program. Graduating near the top of her class, Kirsten's academic work received numerous publication and exhibition credits, and won critical favor for an ambitious conceptual approach that incorporated landscape architecture and community-based thinking on a broad contextual scale. Invited to work on a competition by one of her professors, Kirsten's architecture work also includes freelance design using Revit and Rhino, and hands-on construction experience and small-scale general contracting. Kirsten's methodology and approach is backed up by her experiences as a former entrepreneur. As co-founder of a medical software company, Kirsten was instrumental in the firm's market leadership, with a client list that includes marquee hospitals in seven countries. Her interests include boating, hiking, landscape design, and textile design. She has traveled widely, including Dubai, Qatar, Thailand, Hong Kong, and much of Europe.
